Many of the ZedGazette Team theories are based in historical horse racing practices or computer science genetic algorithm theory. This time around, it is mostly conjecture. For this article, we will look at the blog created by the former community manager Beau.
In the process of researching Zed Run, I went back into the Discord server history and read from it’s creation. I was able to find useful information from questions asked in the past, and some information that was outdated. However, the blog created by Beau was in reaction to the community wanting additional details on the genetic algorithm and the breeding process. The genetic algorithm has never changed, and the lore created by Beau should still be applicable. LINK
There are four bloodlines in Zed Run. There are Nakamoto, Szabo, Finney, and Buterin races horses available within gameplay. Nakamotos are said to have 91-95% genotype purity, Szabos 82-84%, Finnies 72-75%, and Buterins at 58-65% purity. There is not much explanation to these percentages, but one hint in Beau’s blog is the rarity of performance traits associated with each bloodline. Additionally, the page tells us that a horse can carry only one bloodline. This implies there are different traits available within this rarity.
Beau’s blog also states that “only one half of the breeding profile of Nakamotos is known”. I interpret this to mean that there is only 50% of the 1s & 0s available in the genetic profile of Nakamoto Genesis horses. The additional 50% will be discovered through breeding and mutation (link). These profiles coupled with the fact there are no “half-half bloodlines” proves, in my opinion, there are different genetic profiles available only to each bloodline.
The purity of Nakamotos and Szabos must be the deciding factor in the pricing structure by the Zed Run team. They both hold the same scarcity of 2,000 Genesis horses, but Nakamotos are 2 or 3 times as pure as Szabos. Pricing in the recent drops has followed suit with Nakamoto Z1s costing rough $37,000 and Z3 Szabos roughly $13,500. Knowing that certain 1s and 0s profile traits are only available within bloodlines, I argue 91-95% of these possibilites are available within the Nakamoto profile. Szabos have only 82-84% of the possible 1s and 0s available to them, and so on.
In conclusion, Beau’s blog was created in response to an outcry by the community for more details into the breeding algorithm. It describes profiles and the inability to create half bloodline offspring. From this information, I am concluding that the possible traits programmed into the horses DNA’s 1s and 0s are limited by it’s bloodline profile. An example being, only 58-65% of the possible traits are available to Buterins while Finnies have 72-75% possible traits.
